My Parents Told Me to Be Patient When I Said I Didn’t Love Sarah—So I Waited. Here’s How It Ended.

My parents urged me to be patient when I said I didnt love Sarah and asked me to wait. How did my waiting turn out in the end?

Marrying Sarah felt like a waking nightmare. She was demanding, loud, and yet my father had chosen her for me. He picked out his friends daughter, convinced wed be perfect for each other. Since I had no other girlfriend and was already thirty, I had to marry her. Sarah controlled everything in our marriageevery detail had to follow her plans and wishes. Our first child arrived on her schedule, then the second.

Life rolled on through hardship and setbacks. There were so many dark moments that turned it into a living hell. I despised my wife, resented my children, and clashed bitterly with my father-in-law. I never thought Id manage without divorce.

Mum always stood by me, but both she and Dad kept telling me to wait and be patient. It was as if they knew something, having lived their years, and were certain Id understand the truth when I was older.

And so the children grew up and moved on. Im still with Sarahweve grown used to each other, found our rhythm, and now I cant imagine life without her. Financially, things are stable enough. We finally have a quiet happiness that makes life feel like a dream. Both of us are healthy, content, in love, and free from real worries. Everything is as it should be. For the longest time, theres been nothing to complain about.

It took us years to reach this point, but I wonder do people truly feel happiness while busy with work, children, and everything else? Or do they, like me, only find it in old age? When theres nowhere left to run, and no reason to.
