**Diary Entry**
One evening, I returned home to hear the words I never expected: «I’m sorry. I’ve fallen for someone else. I’ll still support the boys, but I’m leaving. Forgive me if you can.» Just like that, Edward walked out, leaving me with our children. The next day, a chat with our neighbour opened my eyesId been blind to the truth for far too long.
I married late. Before Edward, my focus had been on university, then my career. Thats where I met himrushing into the office, I accidentally bumped into him. He claimed it was love at first sight. That very evening, as I left work, he appeared out of nowhere, holding an umbrella over me and offering a bouquet. Roses, surprises, giftssix months later, we were married. A year after that, our first son was born.
I gained weight during pregnancy, but Edward swore it didnt matter. Then came our second boy, and the weight stayed. I never went back to work, devoting myself to the house and the children. Meanwhile, Edward built his own little computer repair business. I didnt even notice when he started drifting away. This past year was the hardestvanishing for work, claiming business trips. I had no idea those trips were lies. Then, calmly, he shattered everything.
Eight months passed.
One night, the intercom buzzedEdward, here to see the boys. We exchanged brief words before I retreated to the kitchen. Then my phone rang. «Hi,» I answered. «I thought youd forgotten about us.»
«Never,» came the warm reply. «How could I forget my happiness? Ill pick you all up tomorrow. You and the boys will love the new flat. I love you.»
I hung up, smiling. Frank had proposedwe were moving in together. As I turned to check on the boys, Edward stood frozen in the hallway. Hed heard everything.
«Am I too late?» he muttered, eyes fixed on the floor.
«Yes!» I laughed, brighter than Id felt in years.
