I kicked my wife out of the house and shielded my daughter from her after discovering where shed been taking the girl.
My wife and I have been together for six years. She has an eight-year-old daughter who was just two when we met. Her biological father left months before she was born, and out of the blue, he showed up at our doorstep in December while I was at work. The first time my daughter saw him, he barely acknowledged her.
Two weeks later, my wife suddenly tells me theyve agreed on shared custody. She refused to give me his address or even his phone number.
My wife always drives our daughter to and from school and her after-school clubs.
But in early January, I noticed my daughter started dreading visits to her fathers place. She said it was horrible, filthy, and she couldnt sleep there. She told meright in front of her motherthat she didnt want to go anymore. Then last Friday happened.
My wife finished work at 8 p.m. and was supposed to pick our daughter up right after. By 9 p.m., they still werent home, and she wasnt answering her phone. I called her sisters, her mumno one knew where she was. I even went to her workplace, but it was empty.
Just after 2 a.m., my wife and daughter finally walked in. I stood up, furious. My wife gave me this innocent look and said, Sorry. Her story?
Her phone had died at work. She drove to her exs place but thought no one was home. With no way to call, she waited. They showed up after 9 p.m. with takeaway. The father claimed theyd walked to the shop and grabbed food on the way back. My wife went inside, let them finish eating, then said she dozed off on the sofa. She woke up at 1:45 a.m. and rushed home, blaming exhaustion from a long day.
Eventually, she gave me his address and asked me to drop our daughter off the next day. When I got there with her, it turned out to be a run-down shack in a rough part of town! Cockroaches everywhere, beer bottles littering the place. The man sat there in his underwear, staring blankly at nothing. I took my daughter straight back home.
Tonight, I found out my wife had been giving him money and topping up his phone using our family budget. Were they back together? At this point, Ive had enough of the liesI wouldnt be surprised if theyd slept together.
Last night, I told her to leave and demanded our daughter stay with methis is the only place shes safe. I wont send her to that dump! Her grandmother fully supports her living with me, and legally, Im listed as her guardian.
I dont think Ive got any other choice. Well see how things play out.
